$800 to attend prom? Article points out just one of the things wrong in America.

I read this article with my jaw hanging open.

What happened to the prom in the high school gym, and your mom making your dress, and an early morning breakfast at the local IHOP?

When did prom become all about limos and designer dresses and $300 tickets?

No wonder half the flippin’ country is in foreclosure.

It’s called priorities, people!

  1. It has been this way for years. Sometimes parents will get together to form carpools (instead of hiring limos), but kids have to stop expecting expensive outfits and hairstylists, stop expecting parents to pay for hotel room rentals, and the other stuff. Actually $65/person isn’t outrageous for a party with live band in a fancy hotel. Student prom committees can also go back to having proms in the school gym. The kids have to take some action.

    • Here in Podunksville Virginia, $65 a person is a lot of money. I can see “per couple” maybe, but I am just scandalized by the entire thing.
