The aim of the Excessively Diverting Blog Award is to acknowledge writing excellence in the spirit of Jane Austen’s genius in amusing and delighting readers with her irony, humor, wit, and talent for keen observation. Recipients will uphold the highest standards in the art of the sparkling banter, witty repartee, and gentle reprove. This award was created by the blogging team of Jane Austen Today to acknowledge superior writing over the Internet and promote Jane Austen’s brilliance.
1. I chose Kirsty of Boblog because she is English, a Jane Austen fan, and has a thing for freakishly cute kittens. I’ve learned a lot of things from Kirsty like, not all English people drink tea, English people don’t generally call themselves English, and that people from Scotland and Wales are not English. OK, so I already knew most of that, but Kirsty keeps me from generally making a fool out of myself by patiently answering all of my stupid questions… mostly about handsome English British political figures.
2. Although The Little Professor is clearly 10 times smarter than most people I know and routinely writes about academic subjects waaaay over my head, I wanted to nominate her because she deserves it as this particular post clearly proves.
3. Not that she would ever acknowledge me or read my blog(s) (for she is a famous authoress and I am therefore beneath her notice) but I nominate Jennifer Weiner (of a Moment of Jen & Good in Bed, In Her Shoes fame) because I never fail to laugh at all her posts even when they concern highbrow literary types or when she is engaged in jabbing at the New York Times Book Review section (rightly) who, incidentally, I would die to have review my own books when I become a famous authoress myself (that would be the books that I have yet to write)
Four more? What a long list! I’ll have to come back later to finish this post later on in the day. Right now I have to make a phone call to the Virginia Department of Taxation to lodge a complaint, basically to let them know that unemployed people should not have to have their unemployment check taxed. Yeah, I don’t think it will work either! This will take a few hours!
